Synod restarts today

The Synod on Synodality restarts today in the Vatican with a retreat and a penitential service.

Cardinal Hollerich, addressing participants, reminds them that

the fundamental question for the ecclesial discernment of this Synod is expressed in clear terms: “how can the identity of the synodal People of God in mission take concrete form in the relationships, paths and places in which the life of the Church unfolds?” (Instrumentum laboris, p. VIII).

… or in plainer english: how can “the Church” change its relationships, processes and structures, so as to better reflect who we are called to be – that is, a synodal People of God in mission?
